Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Mathematics, Mechanics or Statistics - two positions
Two positions as postdoctoral research fellow (postdoc)are available at Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo, Norway
The fellowships will be for 3 years, with 10 % compulsory work.
Within the framework of the position duties may be assigned. Starting date is no later than 01.10.2017. No one can be appointed for more than one specified period at the same institution.
Job description:
The research fellows will be attached to either the section for mechanics (Section 1), the section for statistics and biostatistics (Section 2), the section for stochastic analysis, finance, insurance and risk (Section 3), the section for differential equations and computational mathematics (Section 4), the section for algebra, geometry and topology (Section 5), or the section for logic, several complex variables and operator algebras (Section 6). Both fellowships will not be attached to the same section. The fellows will perform research within one of the areas covered by these sections. Requirements/Qualifications:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree, or equivalent, in mathematics, mechanics or statistics, with background in one of the research areas covered by the Institute. The main purpose of a postdoctoral research fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.

Salary: Position code 1352, Salary: NOK 486 100 – 567 100 per year, depending on qualifications and seniority.
