W3 professorship for microsystem technology, process engineering University of Freiburg, Faculty of Engineering, Institute of Microsystems Engineering
University of Friborg: You're not the only one in the world, but you're in the right place. At the Faculty of Engineering at the Institute of Microsystems Engineering a
W3 professorship for microsystem technology, process engineering (successor Prof. Reinecke)
Fulltime position, start date: immediately
To the next possible date.
The professorship will focus on teaching and research in innovative methods for the microstructuring of metals, semiconductors and plastics and for the replication of microstructures in these materials. Manufacturing processes such as, for example, ultra-precision machining, micro-erosion, electrochemical processes, hot-pressing, nanoimprinting and injection molding are investigated and further developed. Particular attention will be paid to the development of complete process sequences (process chains). In addition, the professorship will also establish new methods of microfabrication technology. Examples of this are glass processing on the micro- and nano scale, Novel additive manufacturing processes or roll-to-roll processes for the microfabrication and heterogeneous integration of miniaturized components on larger surfaces. A cooperation with the main focus of the Faculty of Technology is desirable. The transfer of projects to the Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies (FIT) with its processing infrastructure (foil technology) is of advantage. We are looking for a scientifically internationally recognized personality. In addition to very good international networking, the applicants are expected to have experience in the acquisition of third-party funding, in particular industrial cooperation, as well as the willingness to cooperate in coordinated research projects. Prerequisites for the appointment of professors and professors are, in addition to the general legal requirements, a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude and an outstanding doctorate. Academic achievements beyond the doctoral degree, which are usually demonstrated by a habilitation, are expected (§ 47 Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG)).
