The Department of Mathematics and Sciences is a service Department at GUtech offering undergraduate courses in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at GUtech. The Faculty of Mathematics and Science is seeking applications for the position of: Mathematics Lecturer, to join in September 2017 Requirements and Competencies The successful candidate is expected to add significantly to the University’s education and research in the field of Mathematics. We are looking for a colleague who complements our present staff. Preference is given to candidates working in the field of differential equations, numerical analysis, modelling of processes and data, algebraic geometry or number theory. To have experience or being interested in Blended Learning and involving new technologies in education is also expected. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Mathematics and demonstrate excellence in teaching. Candidates are expected to be good researchers. We also encourage strong candidates with a Master degree to apply, with the potential of doing a Dr. in Mathematics or postdocs for continuing their research. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-cultural team environment. Tasks and Responsibilities Tasks and responsibilities will include teaching mathematics to students of engineering and sciences. The language of instruction at GUtech is English. Emphasis will be given to the candidates’ potential and interests in joint projects with members of the Department. The candidate is also expected to take over administrative tasks within the Department. The responsibilities of the Lecturer include teaching undergraduate Mathematics courses, coordinating and performing tutorials (20h/week), and contributing to the research of the Department.
