
LA TROBE UNIVERSITY | OPTUS CYBER CHAIR
Optus Business and La Trobe University have announced a strategic alliance designed to deliver an integrated digitally connected campus; a state of the art Sports precinct of the future and the creation of market leading undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Cyber Security, as well as related research programs in the area. The partnership between Optus and La Trobe University responds to the importance of data analytics and cybersecurity in Australia’s future digital world and the need for industry, government and academia to collaborate in order to ideate, co-create and innovate. A cornerstone of this alliance is the establishment of the Optus Cyber Chair to be based at La Trobe, Bundoora.
La Trobe University and Optus Business are seeking interest from highly motivated candidates with a background in one or more of the following disciplines: Communications, Psychology, Media, Law, Business, Social Sciences, IT and Engineering. La Trobe University and Optus Business encourage applications from a wide range of disciplines. In recognition of the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to Cyber Security, this role will work closely with a range of disciplines across La Trobe’s two College operating model: the College of Science Health and Engineering (SHE) and the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce (ASSC). The Optus Cyber Chair is anticipated to be a prominent appointment of academic leadership at the level of professor (Level E) and is a full time, continuing role at La Trobe. Candidates must have academic experience and performance together with an international profile consistent with the expectations of appointment as a full professor at La Trobe.
The incumbent is expected to conduct and lead innovative and high impact research at an internationally distinguished level and produce high quality publications resulting from that research.
