Assistant Professor (Post-doc Researcher), Electrical Engineering (Smart and Flexible Power Systems)
This is a fixed term position for 3 years with a start date at the beginning of January 2018 or as agreed. The position is located in the Faculty of Technology (as of January 2018 School of Technology and Innovations). This position is connected to the Smart Electric Systems (SES) research group. Tasks:
The tasks of this Assistant Professor (Post-doc Researcher) position are mainly focused on high-quality research in active network management and advanced protection solutions for future smart and flexible power systems. Depending on the applicant’s background the research can focus either on advanced active distribution network management methods or on adaptive and proactive protection solutions for future low or zero-inertia electricity networks / microgrids.
The tasks of the Assistant Professor include independent academic research, teaching duties as well as administrative tasks. All tasks are agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan. The annual working time for the Assistant Professor (Post-doc Researcher) is 1624 hours.
Requirements:
Position requires a relevant doctoral degree and the ability to conduct independently high-level scientific research on the specified area. A proven track record in international scientific publishing is especially valued. Researcher mobility and active participation in international scientific research networks are also looked upon favorably.
The main research work will be carried out with simulation tools such as PSCAD, Matlab SimPowerSystems and OPAL-RT real-time simulator. Therefore, the position requires strong expertise and experience on these tools (at least some of them) as well as on power system protection and control of power electronics based inverter interfaced DER units. Programming skills are beneficial for the position. Also knowledge about microgrids, energy storages, IEC 61850 based standards, protection relays/phasor measurement units (PMUs) or small signal stability is seen as an asset. Strong written & spoken English language skills are mandatory.
Salary:
The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff. The salary for an Assistant Professor (Post-doc Researcher) is based on demand levels 5-6, (2865 – 3340 €) and an additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance (4-46.3%).
