The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, which is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, offers studies from bachelor, via masters degree to doctorate. The department has extensive scope and covers the fields of biological chemistry, chemistry and environment, mathematics and physics. The department is responsible for all basic science education at the faculty. As part of the institute, the research center includes the Core - Center for Organizational Research. There are currently 90 employees (including fellows and postdoctors) and 400 students are affiliated with the department.
Postdoctoral in Mathematics
The University of Stavanger has a 3-year postgraduate degree as postdoctoral student in mathematics at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The post is available from July / August 2018.
The position is funded with funds from the NFR / Fellesesløftet.
The subject area of the position is within differential geometry / pseudo-Riemannian geometry and is part of the project "Pseudo- Riemannian Geometry and Polynomial Curvature Invariants: Classification, Characterization and Applications".
Candidates with knowledge in one or more of the following areas: pseudo-Riemannian geometry, Lie Group theory, relativity theory, invariant theory or holonomy will be preferred. The purpose of the post is to strengthen mathematics research and to give PhD researchers within the relevant subject area the opportunity for further qualification with a view to academic top positions.
The applications will be assessed in relation to the project's relevance, quality and feasibility. In addition to an assessment of submitted project plan and scientific work, current candidates will be invited to interview.
Qualifications in innovation, innovation and commercialization of research are emphasized by employing academic positions at the university.
The research work will be carried out at the University of Stavanger. It is assumed that the employee is employed full time with the research project and that he or she forms part of the academic environment at the faculty and the university.
The position is paid according to the state wage regulation, l.pl 17,510, code 1352, kr 490 900 bto per year. In special cases higher pay can be considered.
The position automatically provides membership in the Government Pension Fund, which ensures good pension rights. Members can apply for a mortgage at favorable terms.
