Researcher at the Institute of Analysis and Numerics University of Münster, Institute of Analysis and Numerics
In Department 10, Institute for Analysis and Numerics of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, a full-time position is available from now until 31.12.2020
The regular working hours for full employment are currently 39 hours 50 minutes a week. In principle, appointments are also made part-time, unless there are compelling business reasons in individual cases. The activity includes the scientific cooperation in a project for the sustainable, user-oriented further development of the model reduction software pyMOR.
Projection-based model order reduction refers to a family of mathematical methods for constructing fast computable, accurate replacement models for large systems of equations resulting from the discretization of ordinary or partial differential equations (PDGL). These methods, such as the reduced-base method, have been used successfully in numerous scientific and industrial applications. The free Python library pyMOR, developed by us, makes it possible to integrate these methods into existing HPC applications with little effort.
The main goal of the project is to establish pyMOR as an easy-to-use tool for model reduction in the advanced scientific computing community and to ensure the sustainability of its development. this includes
The work will take place in close cooperation with our partners at the Mack Planck Institute Magdeburg and at the Center for Information Processing at the University of Münster.
We expect extensive programming experience in the field of scientific computing (eg through a doctorate or relevant professional experience), knowledge of the SciPy ecosystem and basic knowledge of the finite element method.
EMU advocates gender equality and seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching. Applications from women are therefore expressly desired; Women are given preference for the same suitability, aptitude and professional performance, provided that no reasons prevail in the person of a competitor. Handicapped persons are preferentially employed with the same qualifications.
