Tenure-Track Professorship (W1) in Flight Robotics

 

INSTITUTE OF FLIGHT MECHANICS AND CONTROL I AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY

The research shall address the automation, autonomy, and assistance systems of aerospace vehicles, e.g. for unmanned aerial vehicles, urban mobility vehicles or spacecraft for exploration missions. This includes topics such as integrated motion planning and mapping, aspects of qualification or certification of functional algorithms, safe operations, airspace integration and cooperative systems.

 

We are looking for an outstanding researcher who will combine advanced methods in computer science with problems and methods in flight dynamics and controls. The ideal candidate shall have an expertise in at least one of the following areas: machine learning, computer vision, real-time optimization, virtual and augmented reality, man-machine-interface, decision making.

 

We expect significant contributions to teaching in both Bachelor and Master programs.

 

The ideal candidate will initiate and/or actively support the cooperation between different institutes of the Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy Department as well as with groups from other departments, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybernetics.

 

The professorship is funded in the context of the joint program for the promotion of early career researchers by the German federal and state-governments. The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg University Law apply.
