Research Associate as Software Developer / Software Developer
to occupy.
The University of Münster (WWU) founded a Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) in July 2017, which brings together and accompanies all activities in the digital humanities. The CDH is supported by the service point Digital Humanities (DH), which is located at the eScience Center of the University and Regional Library Münster (ULB Münster).
The service point's responsibilities include advising and accompanying DH projects, providing standardized tools, conceptual modeling solutions, and support for DH trainings. In this context, the ULB Münster looks forward to your support!
We are looking for a dedicated personality with autonomous, solution-oriented work style, good conceptual skills and strong teamwork. They are also characterized by flexibility and resilience as well as good communication skills and meet the following profile:
- Completed university studies in computer science or related fields or a comparable qualification acquired in practice
- Practical experience in the autonomous planning and implementation of software development projects
- Proven experience in dealing with modern web technologies and frameworks
- Good programming skills in modern programming languages, eg Java, C ++ or Python
- Proven reference to digital humanities, especially in the context of digital editions
- Good German and English skills
Desirable are:
- Experience in software development in the context of microservice architectures and continuous integration as well as continuous delivery environments
- Familiar handling of X-technologies (XQuery, XPath and XSLT) as well as especially TEI XML
- Experience with databases and data modeling as well as with the concepts of the Semantic Web and especially the Linked Open Data Principle
- Experience in the preparation, modeling and transformation of large amounts of data
- Experience in designing and implementing modular end-to-end work processes based on workflow engines, programming interfaces (APIs) and plug-in architectures
- Experience with tools and research infrastructures of Digital Humanities (eg CLARIN or DARIAH)
Tasks:
- Development of software solutions for the Digital Humanities at the WWU
- Adaptation, customizing and integration of existing software solutions, in particular development of Internet-based server and client-side software modules
- Linking local research infrastructures with (inter-) national research infrastructures
- Development and support of data transformation and data supply processes
