Senior lecturer in Mathematics
At the department of Mathematical Sciences there are many internationally successful researchers in a wide variety of research areas. The division Analysis and Probability Theory conducts research in areas such as harmonic analysis and partial differential equations, mathematical physics, probability and discrete mathematics and functional analysis. We invite applications for a senior lecture position at the division of Analysis and probability theory.

Major responsibilities
As senior lecturer you will be course responsible, which involves planning and performing teaching at all levels. You are also in particular expected to take part in the work of developing new teaching methodologies, for example through the application of new technologies. The position includes supervision of students' independent work, in paricular acting as an assistant or main supervisor for PhD students, depending on your current competence. There will also be a certain amount of departmental committee work.
You are expected to conduct independent research and engage in activities for attracting external funding. All research and teaching staff at the Department are expected to take part in various outreach activities towards the civil society.

Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position should have a PhD degree in mathematics, or equivalent, as well as experience in teaching and coordinating mathematics courses at the undergraduate level. The latter should be well-documented and supported by personal references. It is an advantage if you have been successful in applying for research grants.
It is important that you can create a good atmosphere in teaching situations, and take individual responsibility for an assigned task. You should be comfortable with handling course administration and mathematical software.
Many of your duties will be carried out in conjunction with others, so you must be willing to listen and cooperate.
Our teaching languages are Swedish and English. Fluency in English is expected. As most of our teaching is in Swedish, you should be able to teach in Swedish after a maximum of two years of employment. Chalmers offers courses in Swedish.
Completed training in teaching and learning education, or equivalent knowledge, is strongly meritous.
