Aalto University, Department of Computer Science is currently looking for a

LECTURER in human-computer interaction

for a fixed term three-year period, starting as soon as possible in the autumn 2018.

 

Department of Computer Science (http://cs.aalto.fi) is a central place for collaborating with several active research groups on HCI (see HelsinCHI, https://hcihelsinki.org/).



Main duties, responsibilities and requirements

The lecturer in human-computer interaction is expected to participate in the teaching of two to four courses annually, including the introductory course on human-computer interaction, as well as take an active part in thesis supervision, research and educational administration.

 

Education at Aalto University is based on high quality research. The candidates are expected to have

  1. a doctoral degree in human-computer interaction or related field, 

  2. good pedagogical and teaching skills, and

  3. a strong track record in scientific research.

 

The applicants should be active in international research having good skills in formulating and reviewing research setups and providing guidance in research-related exercises and thesis works. Experience in collaboration with the industry both in research and teaching is beneficial for this position. Applicants will be expected to possess appropriate publication record, lecturing and thesis advising experience, a number of years of post-doctoral experience, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills for working with colleagues. Excellent skills in English language is required.

 

The salary is determined based on experience and qualifications according to the salary system of Aalto University. The position is located in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
