Researcher / PhD Student for Computer Vision Technical University of Munich, Chair of Human-Machine Communication

Researcher / PhD Student for Computer Vision

Among other things, the Chair of Human-Machine Communication conducts research in the area of person identification and verification. In the context of a project it is concretely about an identification of persons with the help of several camera pictures in a test environment. In addition, other features such as the gait, the clothes or the size should be considered in order to reliably verify the person on the different images of the cameras. State-of-the-art methods from the field of machine learning and computer vision are used. The topic also includes integrating the developed algorithms into a sealed cloud environment. The running time and efficiency of the code play an important role here and should be further improved. In order to strengthen the team, the chair is looking for a scientific employee with the opportunity to pursue a doctorate. The entry is initially based on a project office in the field of person identification.

Tasks
• Basic research in the areas of computer vision and machine learning
• Basic research in the field of compression and runtime improvement of algorithms
• Coordination and collaboration with project partners
• If necessary Supervision of student work in the context of the subject

Required qualification
• Completed degree in computer science, electrical engineering or similar qualification with technical orientation
• Good programming skills in common high-level languages (Python, C ++, ...)
• Ideally, experience in the field of computer vision and machine learning
• Ideally, experiences in Tensorflow
• High level of self-organization

We offer ...
... the opportunity
to research the possibilities of reliable personal identification in a lively and very interdisciplinary team . The algorithms are implemented with the Tensorflow library.
Here mainly the programming language Python is used. In addition, the
developed software should run on a Linux system using C ++ code. For the training of the algorithms
, the chair provides the necessary computing power on graphics chips accordingly.
