Job description We offer a one-year postdoctoral position funded by the SASS project "listening to data". The scope of the project is to build longitudinal models of online conversations between minors on the "kindertelefoon" forum, which is focused on helping children that are experiencing personal issues. Many of the minors we are looking at have suffered difficult or traumatic experiences and do not address these directly in their messages. The position focuses on discovering patterns in the children's posts over time, with the goals of (1) optimising the structure of the forum to support useful interaction, (2) recognising signs of underlying issues that are not mentioned explicitly and (3) tracking the emergence and waning of issues that children tend to face, in order to inform policymakers.
* Responsibilities You will be responsible for modelling the contents of, relationships between, and evolution of messages posted by children on forums. You will collaborate with experts at the "kindertelefoon" organisation to inform and validate your work.

You have a Ph.D. in text mining, machine learning or a related field of expertise. You have experience and interest in modelling social media posts or broader classes of textual data. You have strong analytical and conceptual skills. You are an open, creative thinker. You have a strong interest in societal relevance. You enjoy working as part of a team, but are capable of working independently as well. Since the dataset we focus on is in Dutch, fluency in Dutch is a plus. Our offer We offer a challenging fulltime postdoc position. The duration of the contract is 12 months. The gross monthly salary will range from € 3.255,- to € 4.274,- and will depend on experience and qualifications. An annual holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, and an annual year-end bonus of 8.3%. A solid pension scheme. Minimum of 29 leave days in case of full-time employment.
