[Job details (duties, subject responsible for, etc.)] The successful candidate for the position of assistant professor is expected to: -Conduct vigorous research in the field of cryptography and information security, information theory, algorithms, or computational complexity theory; - Advising masters and Ph.D. students in their research, in conjunction with faculty member Professor Eiichiro Fujisaki; and -Giving lectures within the School of Information Science in cooperation with other faculty members.

Five years - Possible to be reviewed during the appointment term for reappointment (for three additional years) as assistant professor. - When certain conditions are fulfilled, possible to be reviewed during the appointment term for promotion to Senior Lecturer (for five years).

Qualifications The successful candidate is expected to: -Possess a doctoral degree in a related field by the time of appointment; -Have a proven record of expertise in conducting research in the field of cyptography and information security, information theory, algorithms, or computational complexity theory; -Demonstrate enthusiasm for the education and guidance of graduate students in accordance with the Mission and Goals of JAIST; -Demonstrate the capability of giving lectures and supervising students; -Be capable of undertaking domestic and international research initiatives in competitive areas of advanced research.

Compensation (1)Working Hours and Holidays -Discretionary Labor System for Professional Work: 7 hours 45 minutes per day -Holidays: Saturdays and Sundays, National Holidays, JAIST Foundation Day, Winter Break (from December 29 to January 3) and Summer Closure Days -You may be requested to work on some holidays to do lecture, proctor entrance examination or attend university information sessions. Holiday work is compensated with a substitute day off. (2)Salary and Other Allowances -The annual salary system will be applied. [Selection process (selection method and hiring decision), notification of result] The selection will be conducted based on results and achievements in the areas of research and education and on your future plans of work at JAIST. We will take into consideration not only the number of papers, but also the contents of publications and research. In order to select the final candidate, the selection committee will conduct interviews with the candidates selected in the initial screening. Interviews will be held in either English or Japanese to evaluate the candidates based on the abovementioned qualifications for applicants. The evaluation of applications will be strictly unbiased and its result will be kept confidential.
