funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation.

The position is due to commence on October 1, 2020.

Required qualifications include an outstanding doctoral thesis in a pertinent field, internationally visible publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and conferences as well as teaching experience.

The position is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation and comes with a highly attractive start-up and equipment package. The successful candidate will primarily be a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science, as well as the Tübingen School of Education and the Research and Transfer Center for Digitization in Teacher Training.

The position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension by a further two years after a positive interim evaluation. The University will make every effort to advertise a position for a research fellow in good time prior to the end of the six-year Assistant Professorship, in order to continue the field of research developed during the Assistant Professorship. In this case, the holder of the Assistant Professorship would be encouraged to apply for that position.

The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation and six hours thereafter. Independent research activities are expected. This position provides the opportunity and expectation that, in the course of the six years of the contract, the W1 Professor will attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for a subsequent appointment as a tenured professor at a university or equivalent institution.

Applicants must be in an early stage of their career; those who have completed a habilitation will therefore be excluded.

The University of Tübingen is particularly interested in increasing the number of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages women candidates to apply. In line with its internationalization agenda, the university welcomes applications from researchers outside Germany. Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.

Applications with supporting documents (cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications and teaching experience, diplomas/certificates) as well as a teaching statement and a research statement including collaboration plans, along with the completed application form (https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/faculties/faculty-of-science/faculty/service-downloads/#c608746)  should be sent by e-mail as a single PDF-file (max. 10 MB) to the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rosenstiel, University of Tübingen, Germany, careerspam prevention@mnf.uni-tuebingen.de by March 25, 2020.
