The Cambridge Institute for Automated Language Teaching and Assessment (ALTA) is seeking a Research Associate in Corpus Linguistics to join their strong team of researchers in the Department of Computer Science and Technology.

ALTA is a virtual institute which brings together researchers from Computer Science, Engineering, Linguistics and Language Assessment to investigate new ways of using technology to enhance language learning and to develop cutting-edge approaches to assessment which will benefit learners and teachers worldwide.

The successful applicant will be working in the area of code switching and must have a directly relevant PhD (or close to completing). The candidate is expected to have knowledge and experience of computational techniques relevant to corpus linguistics and will need to be confident communicating with a team of computational linguists.

This position can be filled by an appropriate candidate at research assistant or research associate level, depending on relevant qualifications and experience. Appointment at research associate level is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent experience). Where a PhD has yet to be awarded appointment will initially be made as a research assistant and amended to research associate when the PhD is awarded.
