The Opportunity

As a key plank in the Monash Faculty of IT’s mission to use technology to achieve good social outcomes, a significant focus of research is around cyber security. In 2017, the cost to average organisations from cyber attacks was a staggering $11.7 million, which constituted a 23% increase from the previous year. Security flaws are prevalent and costly. Research into fuzzing (i.e., automated bug finding by input generation) is critical to the meet the ever-growing software security challenges. It is for this reason that an opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to contribute to a unique project currently underway that seeks to bring the human into the loop to increase the efficacy of automated fuzzing techniques.

Programmers, developers, CTF players, bug bounty hunters, hackers, and security experts are encouraged to apply. A PhD is not required.

This is a full-time position; however, flexible working conditions may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University may require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
