The Opportunity

The Faculty of Information Technology is seeking either a Level A or Level B Research Fellow to join their team. The Research Fellow provides extensive high-quality research within the Department of Software Systems and Cybersecurity to drive new, impactful discoveries. The Research Fellow will carry out independent and/or team research engaging with cutting-edge and contemporary interdisciplinary cybersecurity technologies and practices in AI & human-centric security. 

Reporting to a relevant senior academic, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and producing conference/seminar papers and research materials. You will also supervise research-support staff and guide junior members of research-only Academic staff. The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and may occasionally contribute to teaching programs within the field of research. 

The successful candidate will have postgraduate qualification in the relevant discipline area, equivalent qualifications or relevant experience. Expert knowledge in human-centric cybersecurity research and experience applying AI (particularly NLP) in cybersecurity is highly desired. A demonstrated ability in undertaking research, leading a team, and manuscript preparation skills are required for success in this role. The successful candidate will be highly organised and have experience in supervising and working with honours or postgraduate students within the discipline. 

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
