Research Fellow - Wireless Signal Processing for Cell-Free Massive

The Centre for Wireless Innovation at Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to appoint one (1) Research Fellow from 1st November 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, for 24 months in order to carry out research on cell-free massive MIMO techniques, as part of a project funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), under the scheme UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships. The successful candidate will work within an established research team led by Dr Hien Ngo (hien.ngo@qub.ac.uk), and will work closely to exploit the fundamental aspects and design a robust and energy-efficient cell-free massive MIMO system At the end of the project, the research team will propose and develop a complete, useful, and practical cell-free massive MIMO system which includes signal processing schemes, channel estimation, pilot assignment schemes, power controls, and AP selection schemes. The candidate will join a vibrant research group of 60 people, including 12 academics. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the research activities of the Queen’s Global Research Institute on Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT). In addition, during the project, the candidate will visit one international institute for 3-6 months.

The successful candidate will have:

 

•  PhD or nearly completion of a PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline.

•  At least 3 years research experience in wireless communications, signal processing and information theory.

•  Ability to contribute to research management and administrative processes.

•  Contribute to the School’s outreach programme by links with industry, community groups etc

•  Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes

Salary scale:   £33,199 per annum
