Contribute to research projects developing novel game theoretic methods that deliver predictable performance regardless of the strategy of the adversary.

The School of Computer Science is seeking to recruit a Grant-Funded Researcher at Level (A) or (B) in network security.

Join a project developing provable network security methods that use graph-based abstractions to verify policy compliance with government guidelines and best practices, to guard against Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), to protect networks against zero-day attacks, and to generate network configurations that are not only provably correct but are also human friendly.

In this role, you will work closely on theoretical and algorithm development and implementation, assist on dissemination (project deliverables, publications, etc) across multiple related projects.  You will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as a member of a broader team.  You will work closely with collaborators and co-investigators across multiple schools within ECMS. 

To be successful at Level A you will need:

  • To have or about to complete a PhD in mathematics, electrical and electronic engineering or computer science.
  • Experience and understanding of network security, especially verification of network defence mechanisms such as firewalls, IDS and software defined networking.
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning, neural networks and other machine learning approaches.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and the ability to communicate scientific and engineering ideas to all audiences, both orally in in writing.
  • Be eligible to hold a Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence security clearance.

In addition to the above, to be successful at Level B you will need:

  • A PhD in maths,engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • Experience in working with various deep learning tools and a track record of effective deployment of these within robotics and computer vision projects.
