Subject/subject description
Computer and system sciences with a focus on technology supported learning and higher education pedagogics. Within computer and systems sciences an important goal is to develop and adapt the use of information technology (IT) and other digital resources to use in learning, both formal and informal learning. The focus of the competence profile is a deep understanding for how design and development of IT applications both creates and influences pedagogical practices and new forms of knowledge for contemporary higher education. 

Main responsibilities
The holder of the lecturer position shall conduct teaching on Stockholm University's courses in higher education pedagogics; organize workshops and consultations on higher education pedagogics and the development of higher education teaching skills and practices for Stockholm University's teachers and departments; and supervise and coordinate higher education pedagogics projects; all with a focus on It-artifacts and digital competencies.

The senior lecturer will also manage projects concerning specific topics within the area of higher education pedagogics. Teaching within the courses of the department of computer and systems sciences, including thesis supervision on bachelor, master and PhD level, can occur. The position also encompasses research within higher education pedagogics. Applicants are expected to be able to teach in both English and Swedish at the start of the position.

A senior lecturer position includes participation development of pedagogical, research, and administrative kind including amongst others being part of departmental and university level working groups and committees. 

Qualification requirements
Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in Computer and Systems Sciences or Pedagogics or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.

Teaching proficiency should have been demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate and master's levels. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Since teaching is performed in both English and Swedish the applicant should be able to communicate in spoken and written English and Swedish, demonstrated via for instance documented teaching experience in both larnruages.

Assessment criteria
Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching and research skills in higher education pedagogics with a special focus on IT artifacts and digital teacher competencies.

Strong emphasis will be placed on;

  • Documented abilities to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers, and the documented ability to initiate, participate in, and manage national and intemational networks.
  • Documented experience of teaching higher education pedagogics.

Emphasis will be placed on;

  • Administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.
  • The successful planning and obtaining of research projects from external funding.
  • Documented experience in expert evaluation of pedagogical skills for applicants to employment as or promotion to senior lecture positions or above.

It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
