The Faculty of Technology is a creative and international knowledge center, where curiosity and innovation, usefulness and proximity are our keywords. Within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the subject for this position is Terotechnology, which participates in an EU project called PreCoM (H2020-FoF 09-2017).

LNU coordinates the project consisting of 17 partners from six EU countries, including 35 employees in small and large companies, research institutions and universities with different backgrounds and specialties: computer science, mathematics / statistics, media technology, economics / organization, IT and communication, technology (production, quality and maintenance), Terotechnology, state-of-the-art technology, etc.

A large part of the research within the project is of major importance for regional development. The project is also conducted in collaboration with external national and international partners, both academia and business.

Research in Terotechnology spans both maintenance technology and sustainable production and society. State-of-the-art technology, information and decision support systems, and AI in maintenance are also areas covered.

New systems resulting from our research and development have been patented nationally and internationally. One of these results, the Smart eMaintenance Decision Support System (Smart eMDSS), is the foundation of the EU project PreCoM.

Job Description:

The tasks mainly consist of research in the field of Terotechnology with a focus on cognitive maintenance systems. The work will be done within the framework of EU projects PreCoM, and in cooperation with researchers at LNU, other universities, companies and other external partners participating in the project. 20% of the work can include teaching and tutoring in the undergraduate and graduate level.

Requirements

Qualified for appointment as senior lecturer is a person who has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a doctorate, or has equivalent scientific experience considering the subject matter of the post and the duties it will involve.

According to the admission procedures at Linnaeus University the pedagogical skills are to refer to the planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching as well as to supervision and examination.

Qualifications for this appointment require documented experience in research in terotechnology or maintenance, as well as knowledge in project work, production and IT. Good knowledge of English is a requirement.

Assessment grounds

As assessment grounds for appointment as senior lecturer, the level of skills considered a requirement to be qualified for the appointment is to be in force. The trial of the pedagogical skills is to be given as great importance as the trial of the scientific skills.

Other assessment criteria include experience in both condition monitoring, economics, and business and information systems is meritorious. Applicants are expected to have the ability to carry out research and development within the described area. The work is done in a research group, which makes co-operative and flexibility important. All kind of experience from teaching and supervision is meritorious.

In this appointment, applicants should be chosen which, through a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, is expected to have the best potential for a successful career as a teacher and researcher.

When the university is to appoint new teachers, the applicants are to be selected who, through a qualitative assessment of the whole picture regarding competence and skills, are considered to have the best qualifications for the implementation and development of the tasks in question, and for contributing to a successful development of the activities.
