Description:

Applications are invited for an exceptional candidate in the area of Software Engineering in the
Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. The successful applicant
will receive a three-year, Limited Term appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant or Associate
Professor. The rank and salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications
and experience. The position will be effective August 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department is seeking an energetic and dynamic candidate who will be able to contribute to the
Department's teaching activities by teaching six half credit (0.5) courses each academic year in the
area of Software Engineering. (The most likely assignment is three courses in the fall term and three
courses in the winter, but may vary with the needs of the department.) Course teaching assignments
will span introductory as well as advanced areas of software engineering such as object oriented
programming (e.g., Java, Python), software requirements & analysis, software engineering design,
information security, web technologies, scripting programming language fundamentals, theoretical
foundations of SE, cloud computing, database design and computer networking.

Qualification


Applicants for this position must have a first degree (BASc B.Eng or equivalent) in Engineering and
have either a PhD in Software Engineering (or a related discipline) or equivalent professional work
experience in software engineering. The candidate should provide evidence of effective teaching at
a post-secondary environment in engineering and will be expected to participate in the normal
administrative, educational and professional activities of the Department, Faculty and University.
Eligibility for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required for this
appointment.
