TECHNICAL INSTRUCTORElectrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS)-Department Teaching Lab (DTL), to teach students in a hands-on, collaborative learning environment.  Will work with other
instructors and faculty to develop practical electronic and mechanically-oriented course materials; and work directly with students to help them with class projects and exercises, debugging problems they may encounter, and teaching them critical lab skills. Students in the lab range in skill from novice to expert.  Will also work with department and lab staff to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the lab teaching space throughout the extended teaching day; oversee space, tool, and supply maintenance; assist with acquiring and installing new equipment into the lab space and training students in appropriate use of this and existing equipment; performing other duties related to the teaching space activities; and assisting with safety training, access, and supplies for classes and introducing new capabilities into the lab. 


Job Requirements


REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a technical area and discretion and good judgment with confidential student information and when dealing with complex teaching and personnel situations. Five years’ experience working in an environment of invention and hands-on engineering that included working with others and creatively solving practical engineering design problems would be ideal.  Seek someone who enjoys teaching undergraduate students one-on-one and is willing to work with students at all skill levels.  Familiarity with a variety of hands-on digital and/or analog fabrication skills, particularly electronic design, fabrication, and testing is desired. Skill working with machine tools, CAD software (SolidWorks, Mastercam, Eagle, Altium, Corel, Adobe, etc.), CNC tools, PCBs, additive and subtractive fabrication processes, electronics production, and embedded programming would be beneficial. Job #16654
