Administrator of Computer Science (University College Cork)

UCC wishes to appoint to the role of Computer Systems Administrator. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and highly innovative higher education environment applying the latest computing technologies to support staff & students in the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, UCC. In the last four years, UG numbers have increased by 17% to 481 FTEs, PG (taught) by 2% to 158 FTEs and PhD students by 144% to 106 FTEs. We are operating in a dynamic, fast-changing teaching and research environment. The successful candidate will be requirement to keep ahead of these technologies to ensure our graduates and research outputs meet the needs of society. The IT Systems Administrator will be based within the School of Computer Science and report to the Head of School or their nominee. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining critical specialised school infrastructure. The candidate will need experience with proprietary and open-source technologies that are used to support research and research-led teaching in AI, Data Science and Analytics, Interactive Media and VR, Internet of Things, simulation servers and software, configuration management, database servers, high-performance computing, cybersecurity and specialised development environments. As an academic school, the post-holder must be primarily based on-campus, but some flexibility for remote/blended working can be facilitated and supported by UCCs work-life balance policies. Candidates must be self-motivated, highly organised, and good communicators. Candidates should have three or more years of systems administration experience and relevant qualifications or experience.
