The University of Waikato has established a Joint Institute with Zhejiang University City College in Hangzhou, China. Local students have the opportunity to graduate with one of three degrees offered there by the University of Waikato.

The position is based in China and applications are sought from suitably qualified people to contribute to the teaching and administrative requirements of the programmes taught at the Joint Institute by our Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.

To be successful in the role you will have demonstrated experience teaching to large and small groups of students and knowledge of object-oriented programming (particularly Java), mobile computing (Android) and web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL). Experience working in an international organisation is essential. Knowledge of Chinese culture, experience of teaching across cultures and the ability to work with students for whom English is not their first language are all important requirements.

Salary will be in the range of CNY315,000 to 405,000 per year (equivalent to NZ$70,000 to $90,000 per year) depending on qualifications, skills and experience.

Annual travel to New Zealand, visa and insurance expenses and accommodation in China are provided.

The appointment will start in January 2019 to include a role induction programme at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand before teaching at the Joint Institute starts in March 2019.
