The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath is inviting applications for a full professorship in Analysis of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. This opening follows the recent award of a Royal Society and Medlock Professorship to Manuel del Pino. Outstanding candidates from all areas of Analysis of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a strong research vision, and a track record of engagement within their Department and across the wider mathematical community. Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record of publications and research grant acquisition, commensurate to their stage of career, as well as a keen interest in pursuing excellence in teaching and in supervising graduate students. Key attributes are strategic leadership and the ability to influence and shape the output and success of the Department, and in particular the Analysis group, and within it the research theme of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. We particularly welcome applications from established Professors, as well as from Readers, Senior Lecturers and Associate Professors or equivalent who can demonstrate a significant upward trajectory.


The Department of Mathematical Sciences has over 70 academic staff from all areas of Mathematics. There are strong interactions between the Analysis group and other groups in the Department, including Algebra & Geometry, Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, and Probability as well as a wide variety of interdisciplinary research projects and industrial collaborations. These activities are supported by the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics at Bath (SAMBa), which has an annual intake of 10-15 research students.
