The Chair of Business Informatics and Logistics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster is looking for an EU-funded research project as soon as possible within the framework of the Competence Center for Crisis Management of the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS)


a research assistant / 
a scientist 
(Salary TV-L 13)

with interest and knowledge in the areas of supply chain management, development of information systems and simulation in the field of disaster management.


Who are we? 
The increasing complexity and low predictability of disasters require effective and efficient disaster management. Especially the interplay between the individual actors as well as the interaction of different skills and practices represents a particular challenge in the management of intra- and extra-European assignments. The aim of the EU research project "Driving Innovation in Crisis Management for European Resilience" is to develop a test environment , in which innovative socio-technical solutions can be tested and analyzed under realistic conditions.


The research project will be carried out together with more than 40 European partners from relief organizations, companies and research who are leaders in the field of catastrophe management. The Chair of Information Systems and Logistics in the ERCIS of the WWU Münster focuses on the design of the test environment, evaluation methods of information systems in disaster management as well as the IT-based collection and analysis of catastrophic information, the modeling and assessment of humanitarian logistics networks and their simulation. 

Who are we looking for? 
We are looking for above-average dedicated applicants who fulfill the following profile:

  • University degree (Diplom / Master of Science) with a grade point average of at least "good",
  • Focus on Business Informatics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Computer Science or related fields,
  • very good knowledge of English, if necessary strengthened by stay abroad,
  • Interest and knowledge in the fields of logistics, supply chain management and disaster management,
  • Desirable would be experience with EU projects as well as knowledge in process modeling and simulation.


The regular working time is currently 39 hours 50 minutes a week. The position is limited until 30.04.2020. Job appointments are also made on a part-time basis, unless there are compelling business reasons in individual cases. What are the tasks? 
Collaboration in the EU project DRIVER, in particular

  • Collaboration on the development and implementation of the test environment
  • Coordination of the evaluation and selection process of innovations in disaster management 
  • Testing a tool for IT-based situation and needs assessment in disaster management
  • Collaboration on a simulation study on disaster logistics.


In addition, we expect a proactive participation in various project-related tasks, such as the documentation or dissemination of the results.
