The Kirby Institute is a leading global research institute dedicated to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Established in 1986 in response to the then emerging HIV epidemic, the Kirby Institute now contributes to knowledge on a broad range of diseases, including viral hepatitis and sexually transmissible infections. 

 

 

About the role

  • $75K-$123K plus 17% superannuation and leave loading (pro-rata)
  • Fixed Term (24  months)
  • Full-time or Part-time

 

This position will focus on the mathematical modelling of experimental data on parasite dynamics during malaria infection and treatment in both human and animal infection. This will involve developing familiarity with the parasitology literature and the underlying biology, biostatistical analysis, and ODE and stochastic modelling.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated mathematics, statistics, or computer programming skills relevant to modelling of experimental data.
  • Interest in modelling in immunology and infection dynamics.
  • Proven evidence of publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Success in funding applications, student supervision and superior publication output required at the higher levels
  • Post graduate degree, preferably PhD, in mathematics / physics/statistics or other quantitative discipline at the lower level and a PhD in Statistic or Mathematics at the higher level
