The group's academics are recognised internationally and have links with The Alan Turing Institute in London, offering the new academic an opportunity to expand their research network. Our academics also enjoy a long-standing relationship with the Department of Computer Science, and the appointee will be involved in the Computer Systems Engineering degree that we offer jointly.

You will have a PhD or equivalent qualification in computer, electrical and/or electronic engineering and a strong track record of high-quality publications in established IEEE and ACM journals and conferences or similar venues. We welcome applications from candidates whose research area lies at the intersection of computation and communication with applications in areas such as cyber-physical systems, automotive, industrial Internet of Things. A research profile demonstrating clear tangible impact and practical outcomes is strongly preferred.

You will pursue independent research of internationally excellent standard as well as collaborate with colleagues within the Connected Systems Research Group to secure significant external funding through research grants or contracts to support a developing research agenda. You will publish the results of your research in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

You will engage in teaching at all levels using relevant teaching methods and undertake curriculum and course development and revision, in line with the mission of a research-led university. You will be comfortable teaching digital systems, foundations of computer architecture, and other topics related to Computer Systems Engineering and Connected Systems.

You will attend meetings and participate (where necessary) in other committees and working groups within the School of Engineering.

All applicants must include both a Curriculum Vitae and a two-page outline of their plans and intentions for research activities and grant capture over five years.
