Assistant Professor, Computer & Digital Forensics

The Division of Information Technology and Sciences at Champlain College seeks an Assistant Professor of Digital Forensics. The primary responsibility for this position will be undergraduate face-to-face instruction in the following areas: Computer and Digital Forensics, Cybercrime Investigation, File-System Forensics, Mobile Device Forensics, e-Discovery, Malware Analysis, Network & Cloud Forensics, Incident Response, and Python programming. Small class sizes optimize instructor-student interaction; hands-on activities help translate theory into practice. The expected start date is August 2020, but candidates may also be considered for January 2020.

Because the College is entrepreneurial and market-driven, its academic programs respond to industry dynamics. Consequently, the College particularly values industry and other practical experience for its faculty and students. The typical teaching load is four courses per semester. While there is no scholarship requirement for retention, professional development for faculty is strongly encouraged and supported. Other responsibilities include course development, curriculum development, student advising, industry outreach, student team/project supervision, and service to support the mission of the program, the division, and the college. In addition, there are opportunities for practical work at the Leahy Center for Digital Investigation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven teaching record, industry experience and a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Candidates with relevant Master’s degrees and significant industry experience and/or professional accomplishments will be gladly considered and are invited to apply. Similarly for ABD candidates with degree completion expected within one year after the initial appointment. Rank will be determined based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
