Description

The Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has multiple faculty openings with a start date of Fall 2026 for tenure-track faculty positions. Candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered, especially as they align with the strategic focus of the department in:

  1. AI/ML, including generative AI foundations and applications

  2. AI for systems and systems for AI

  3. Computer architecture, with a focus on heterogeneous computing systems

  4. Signal processing, data science, communications and information theory

  5. Software engineering, with a focus on AI-managed middleware, software generation and applications

We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to supporting our student body through their teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have received or expect to receive a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline prior to August 2026.

  • Successful candidates are expected to mentor graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate students, develop an externally sponsored research program, collaborate with other faculty across a wide range of fields, and be involved in service to the university and profession.

Research Statement:

Describe your teaching experience to date, your teaching philosophy, and your teaching plans. Identify undergraduate and/or graduate courses you could teach, noting your experience and approach to each. An effective statement should explain your pedagogical approach and how prior experiences shape your teaching.

Mentoring Statement:
Describe your mentoring experience and philosophy in both teaching and research. Address how you will support the success of a diverse student body. Highlight your experience or interest in mentoring undergraduate (predominantly domestic, in-state) and graduate (largely international) students. Outline how you will ensure their professional development, educational growth, and ethical conduct of research and scholarship.
