Description

The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Pure Mathematics. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Mathematics and have a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in both research and teaching. Candidates in all areas of Pure Mathematics will be considered.

We seek exceptional candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation, be expected to sustain and lead innovative research, and maintain an externally funded research program at the highest level. The successful candidate will also be a member of the tri-campus graduate Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Mathematics

  • Established international research reputation in Pure Mathematics

  • Record of sustained, high-impact publications in top-ranked journals

  • Strong evidence of excellence in teaching and research supervision

Evidence of research excellence may include:

  • Research statement

  • High-quality publications and visibility in the field

  • Presentations at major conferences

  • Awards, honours, and other professional recognition

  • Strong reference letters

Evidence of teaching excellence may include:

  • Teaching accomplishments and innovations

  • Teaching dossier (teaching statement, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations)

  • Strong letters of reference focused on teaching contributions

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
