DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Computer Graphics

 

At the Section for Visual Computing at DTU Compute we are looking for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Computer Graphics to take part in the teaching, research and other tasks. You will become part of the faculty group in the section and be part of a team that develops the research within computer vision.

 

You will become part of the faculty group in the section and be part of a team that develops the research within computer graphics. Currently, the group is strong in digital geometry and appearance modeling covering both theoretical and experimental research and you share scientific interest in these areas. There is also a close collaboration with your colleagues in the section including computer vision and medical image analysis.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The research in computer graphics has developed based on possibilities and advances in computer graphics hardware and related fields such as computer vision and computational imaging. We expect you to be up-to-date with modern computer graphics hardware and conversant with recent methods in computer graphics and also able to work on projects that involve computer vision. Further, that you find it motivating to use your knowledge in advancing the research and research-based teaching within computer graphics.

 

We, in section cover a handful of different topics in our teaching portfolio, and you will be part of our cooperation on teaching. As an engaged and independent lecturer you could cover topics such as the basics of computer graphics, including aspects pertaining to geometric transformations, illumination models, geometry representation, and APIs for graphics programming. More advanced topics such as techniques for efficient real-time graphics, global illumination and machine learning based image filtering can also be found in your future teaching portfolio.

 

Finally, you have professional experience with XR (Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality) activities both related to teaching and research, and you understand and can apply the basics of computer vision (detection and tracking of features, camera models, and radiometry) and the use of photographic imagery in computer graphics.

 

You will be given the tasks of

 

  • developing your field of research,
  • being part of the sections teaching in computer graphics courses,
  • attracting funding,
  • supervising PhD-students and postdocs,
  • In cooperation with your new colleagues develop the section to meet the DTU Compute strategy

 

You have

 

  • documented research in one or more (application) areas such as
    • scientific visualization: rendering of graphs, point clouds, voxel data.
    • eXtended Reality (XR): Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR).
    • data-driven or neural rendering techniques.
    • real-time graphics: rendering, interaction, animation.
  • Wide experience with modern computer graphics APIs such as WebGL, Vulkan, Metal, Direct3D, and OpenGL.
  • experience with one or more software packages for graphics (rendering, CAD, visualization, or content creation generally).

 

You must be responsible for the teaching in courses and as advisor of projects. Further, if you are not Danish speaker, you will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

 

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicants qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union. Expected starting date is 1 September 2021 or according to mutual agreement.
