The role

The office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research has oversight of Deakin's Research Portfolio including coordinating the University's research strategy, building Deakin's International research reputation capability and expertise in areas critical to Deakin's goals, delivering research services and support for academics and research students, strategies for research engagement with a business and industry, all of institutional research reporting, research promotion and communication and support the research vision and direction of the University.

You will work initiate and conduct research under limited supervision either as a member of a team or independently, to achieve the objectives of the ARC industrial Transformation Hun for Digital Enhanced Living's funded projects.


This opportunity will be offered at the School of IT at the Melbourne Burwood campus. Appointment will be at the academic level A level with salary in the range of $68,914-$92,644 p.a + 17% super.


To be successful, you'll have:

PhD in Software Engineering or relevant field
Demonstrated skills in the coordination of requirements gather and analysis
Experience in working with end-users, in particular an older demographic
Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct high quality research
Ability to liaise with industry clients and academics
Adapt to changes in the environment and effectively Meet new challenges
Your key responsibilities will be to:

Initiate and conduct research under limited supervision
Contribute to building and active research record, prepare findings for oral and written communication including publication and generation of external research income
Effectively gather input from different stakeholders, maintain data gathering protocols and abide to ethical guidelines.
Conduct preliminary data analysis and produce reports to industry partners
Constructively contribute to a vibrant research team, including participating with colleagues in developing and maintaining links and partnerships with industry and the wider community
