The ETH-Bibliothek - the innovative Swiss Center for Technical and Scientific Information is looking for a computer scientist or system librarian for their IT services 

Job Description

In this capacity, you will work in a well-positioned team that provides the libraries of one of the world's most prestigious universities with a variety of IT offerings.

Our area of responsibility is diverse and varied: We support the maintenance, configuration and updates of digital preservation applications at the ETH Zurich and transform and convert metadata for import from various library and university applications. Together we develop new services in the information science environment. We also participate in the analysis of problems and the development of use cases. Among other things, the specification and implementation of interfaces to other data sources and applications is of importance. This includes limited self-development. Further developments usually take place in cooperation with the external solution providers, in which we actively participate.

In the project team, we are the first point of contact for all IT-related questions and, if necessary, coordinate the answers by other agencies.

your profile
They have a higher education in computer science or similar education and have professional and project experience. We expect a high commitment, a strong sense of responsibility, initiative and an efficient working methodology.

You have knowledge in application development, ideally in Java programming and application mode (Tomcat, Apache). Know-how in the management of complex applications as well as interest in the in-depth analysis of digital objects and file formats are an advantage.

You speak the languages German and English in spoken and written.
