The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally
competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of
Mathematics, Physics & Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth is
currently seeking to appoint a

Junior Professor of Cybersecurity (salary grade: W1) with tenure track to W3

to commence as soon as possible as a fixed-term civil service position.

The successful applicant will be expected to represent research and teaching in the area of cybersecurity.
The call is in the broad area of cybersecurity, with sub-areas such as cryptography, digital forensics, privacy,
security of software systems and data, security of embedded, mobile and/or networked systems, and usable
privacy and security. Filling this professorship is intended to further strengthen cooperation in research and
teaching within computer science and with other disciplines.

We are looking for an early-career scholar with the ability to work independently and a high degree of
development potential. You have completed your doctorate with above-average success and are
internationally visible in the field of cybersecurity, as evidenced by publications in recognized journals or
conference contributions. The willingness and ability to attract external funding must be evident. You also
possess the potential for outstanding teaching achievements in the field of cybersecurity.
The incumbent will be involved in teaching in undergraduate computer science programmes as well as
cooperative computer science programmes. An active contribution to academic self-governance is expected.

The ability to teach in German and English is expected.

In addition to the general legal requirements, prerequisites for this position are a university degree, proven
excellence in teaching, and the ability to carry out scholarly research (generally demonstrated by the quality
of the applicant's doctoral research). Since the completion of the doctorate (date of the doctoral certificate) no
more than four years should have passed. The requirements given in the university's Bayreuth Track
Regulations also apply.
