Lecturer in Computer Science (University College Cork)

UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Lecturer (Assistant Professor internationally) in Computer Science (AI-powered Augmented and Virtual Reality). Reporting to the Head of School, Professor Dirk Pesch, the appointee will complement and strengthen the Schools’ research and teaching interests in AI-powered Augmented and Virtual Reality and aligned to UCC Futures Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. UCC Futures is an ambitious new programme of research prioritisation coupled with an innovative academic recruitment strategy across ten indicative areas of strategic importance that will build a foundation for economic, societal and cultural resilience and prosperity. https://www.ucc.ie/en/futures/#what-is-ucc-futures. The School’s strategy is to expand its research and teaching in the area of AI-powered Augmented and Virtual Reality, and candidates with relevant expertise are encouraged to apply. The School of CSIT has 30 full-time academic staff and offers degrees at the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral levels. Academic staff in the school have leadership roles in major national and international research initiatives, including the Research Ireland funded research centers Insight (Centre for Data Analytics and AI), CONNECT (Centre for Future Networks and Communications), and LERO (Irish Software Research Centre) as well as several Horizon Europe projects including the AI4Europe project. In addition, school academics spearhead and host the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies and the Research Ireland for Research Training in Artificial Intelligence.
