The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University Bloomington https://math.indiana.edu/index.htmlinvites applications for full-time Visiting Lecturer positions beginning Fall 2023. The appointments begin August 1, 2023, and are for two years. These are 10-month positions. There are also opportunities to apply for paid summer teaching and curriculum development work.
 
Primary responsibilities will include instruction and support for instruction. Most of the instruction will be in a diverse set of introductory courses including precalculus, finite mathematics, and calculus. Support for instruction may include: course coordination, curriculum development, and supporting the professional growth of graduate and undergraduate student academic appointees. The nominal teaching load is six courses per academic year. Lecturers receive course releases for coordination and other administrative service.

The candidate hired to fill the position will join a dynamic team of faculty. This team has significant autonomy to reconceive our approach to introductory coursework and substantial support for curriculum revision. Visiting Lecturers receive an annual stipend for professional development. Our faculty also benefit from robust departmental support for camaraderie and collaboration.
A Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, earned by the time of appointment, is strongly preferred. The minimum requirements are a Masters or MAT degree in mathematics. Experience as instructor of record of mathematics courses in a high school, college, or university setting is required. Demonstrated experience with, or training in, evidenced-based teaching practices including active learning and inclusive teaching practices is preferred. We especially value experience working with students from historically marginalized groups. A commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, teamwork, and ongoing improvement is required.
