About our School: 

The School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT) is seeking applications for a part-time Education-Focussed position in Nuclear Engineering. SEIT is committed to building a diverse team and is passionate about hiring and supporting women in Engineering. This role will contribute to course and program delivery, development and innovation, in a team-teaching environment. It will also increase and expand the research and knowledge exchange profiles of SEIT to complement SEIT’s existing strengths. The position will conduct impactful multidisciplinary research and educating the next generation of Australian leaders and scholars in this important and growing field.

About the Role: 
Role: Lecturer in Nuclear Engineering (Education Focused)  
Salary: Level B $112,679 - $132,832 (full time equivalent) plus 17% Superannuation 
Employment type: Part time, 0.3 FTE  
Term: Fixed term
Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

We strongly encourage applications from those with traditional academic backgrounds, but we equally encourage applications from those outside academia who bring other discipline related experiences.

 Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Have a PhD in nuclear science/engineering or related engineering disciplines that complements the breadth of expertise of the School. Or, for education focused, advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area.
  • Experience in academia appropriate to the Lecturer grade with the ability to act as a course coordinator, supervise honours and postgraduate students and engage in professional activity. Or equivalent experience in industry.
  • A demonstrated ability and expertise to develop, coordinate and teach an undergraduate Honours level course in nuclear engineering and its assurance.
  • A demonstrated ability to enhance the University’s Academic Excellence through teaching, knowledge exchange, and education or discipline research.
  • An emerging track-record for securing support from competitive education or discipline grant schemes is desirable.
