The Department of Statistics at the University of California, Davis, solicits applications for a post-doctoral position in Statistics, starting in Summer / Fall 2020. The post-doc will work with Hans-Georg Müller and Jane-Ling Wang at UC Davis within a larger research team to develop statistical methodology supported by theory, extending concepts of functional data analysis and metric geometry for sparsely observed object data in metric spaces. The methods will inform the analysis of longitudinal studies for child development, with emphasis on the analysis of brain image data. The ideal candidate combines interest in theory with experience in empirical process theory and in statistical modeling with excellent programming skills.

Applicants are required to have completed a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field by the time of their appointment, but no earlier than July 1, 2017. The position will initially be for one year, with renewal for a second year possible, depending on performance and the availability of funding.

To apply please submit a cover letter, research statement with links to papers/preprints, CV, 2 letters of reference, and transcripts. Full consideration is guaranteed for applications received prior to May 31, 2020, however the position will remain open until filled.
