About This Opportunity

The School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering are seeking  a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to perform research, engage in postgraduate and honours theses supervision, and support contract work and grant application development, industry research collaborations and other activities associated with the School and its Cyber Security Research Group.

Working with leading researchers from UQ Cyber Security and CSIRO’s Data61, the postdoctoral research fellow will gain access to state-of-the-art industrial control systems equipment through Data61’s facilities, UQ Energy Testlab, and specific domain expertise through collaboration with healthcare and energy research groups at ITEE.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant should possess a PhD (or equivalent) in cyber security, computer science, software engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechatronics, information technology, mathematics or applied cryptography.

Applicants will have a demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of cyber security, distributed computing, operating systems or massive distributed dataset collection and curation along with knowledge or experience processing, anonymising, managing or analysing large-scale dataset.

To be successful applicants should also possess technical expertise in the areas of critical infrastructures, industrial control systems, incident response, data visualizations, or applications of machine learning into cyber security as well as optimizing, managing or processing large-scale data infrastructures, high performance computing or distributed computing.

It is expected that the applicant has made original contribution to research and possesses a solid track record of research publications in reputed peer reviewed journals and conferences.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 3 years at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342 - $92,782 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $81,131 - $108,555
