Applications are invited for the post of professor in Mathematical Finance / Actuarial Science to start in June 2020 or at a mutually agreed alternative date. We are looking for a mathematical scientist of outstanding ability or potential, who is seeking a friendly, supportive and collegial environment in which to provide leadership as a world-class researcher and teacher. The post-holder will support our undergraduate and MSc programmes in mathematical finance and/or actuarial science.

 

This appointment is part of an initiative to build research leadership in financial mathematics and actuarial science at the University of Manchester. There is significant activity within the University employing statistical, financial and optimization tools. Applicants with an appetite for interdisciplinary research will be especially welcome, as will applicants with experience in teaching financial mathematics or actuarial science.

 

Applicants should have research experience commensurate with their career stage (with allowance made for career breaks) and a genuine commitment to, and enthusiasm for, teaching and knowledge transfer.

 

Salary and a competitive start-up package are by negotiation, with scope to fully recognise applicants of the very highest standing. The post is usually full-time, but a part-time appointment may be considered.
