The Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science at Tübingen University 
invites applications for the position of

Tenure-Track Professor (W1) for 
Mathematical Methods in Computer Science (m/f/d)

available immediately. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of the Department of Mathematics, focusing on mathematical education in computer science. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter. Independent research activities in mathematics with links to research in the area of machine learning are expected, for example through research activities in one of the fields probability/statistics, mathematical optimization, numerical mathematics. 

Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in mathematics, recognizable potential for inter-nationally acclaimed publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals as well as teaching expe-rience. 

This Tenure-Track position is subject to an interim evaluation after four years and a final evaluation after six years. If the final evaluation is positive, this professorship will be upgraded to a full (W3) professorship with no re-advertising of the position. 

This professorship is advertised as part of the German federal and state governments’ program support-ing junior researchers. Applicants must be in an early stage of their career; those who have completed a habilitation will therefore be excluded.
