Position Overview

Princeton University invites applications for AI Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join the Princeton Language and Intelligence (PLI) research initiative within the Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (AI Lab).

Fellows will be part of the core PLI team, which includes leading faculty, scientists, software engineers, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems in artificial intelligence and its applications across domains.


Research Focus Areas

PLI researchers pursue foundational and applied work across multiple areas of AI, including:

  • Large-scale language, vision, and multimodal models

  • AI for science, mathematics, and code

  • AI safety, fairness, and alignment

  • Applications of AI to scientific data and discovery

Fellows will have access to the PLI AI Lab GPU cluster (300 H100s) and other advanced computational resources.


Appointment Details

  • Appointed through the Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (AI Lab)

  • Initial term: One year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability

  • Fellows receive:

    • Competitive salary ($100,000 per year)

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Ph.D. (expected or completed) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field

  • Strong background and demonstrated research in AI, machine learning, deep learning, or large model development and analysis

  • Evidence of research excellence through publications, code contributions, or applied work

  • Commitment to in-person collaboration on Princeton’s campus
