Job Purpose

The objective is to fill the position of Mathematics & Mathematical Literacy in the SP&FET Department with a staff member with expertise in this area.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: SENIOR LECTURER
(Please note that preference will be given to candidates that meets the minimum requirements at Senior Lecturer level)

  • A relevant Doctoral degree in Mathematics and/or Mathematical Literacy
  • Mathematics as a major subject at undergraduate level
  • A relevant teaching qualification (preferable at secondary school level)
  • At least four (4) years’ relevant teaching experience at tertiary level
  • Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Mathematics & Mathematical Literacy
  • A record of relevant research output (publications and supervision of post graduate students to completion)

MINIMUM RQUIREMENTS: LECTURER

  • A relevant Master’s degree in Mathematics and/or Mathematical Literacy
  • Mathematics as a major subject at undergraduate level
  • A relevant teaching qualification (preferably at secondary school level)
  • At least five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience in SP & FET Phase at school level or two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level
  • Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Mathematics & Mathematical Literacy
