Project backgroundFEN's research involves extensive use of diverse datasets and sophisticated modelling techniques to evaluate and optimize energy systems. We have developed in-house tools and utilize open-source datasets to support our research activities in various temporal, spatial and energy domains. To enhance our capabilities, we aim to integrate our modelling chain into a consistent framework and unify our datasets into a cutting-edge data structure, enabling seamless interoperability and advanced analytics. Job descriptionWe are seeking an experienced Software Developer with data science expertise to play a key role in designing and implementing a consistent framework that integrates our existing in-house tools and the required datasets. The successful candidate will develop a unified data structure to manage, process, and provide access to diverse datasets relevant to energy systems and electricity grids, ensuring the scalability, interoperability, and robustness of the framework for various types of analysis. In this role, you will collaborate closely with researchers and domain experts to understand requirements and translate them into efficient software solutions, while also maintaining and improving data pipelines and contributing to the long-term capabilities of our research infrastructure.
