Position Overview


The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (MSCS) at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) in Hammond and Westville, Indiana, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science position starting on August 12, 2019. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, primarily on the Hammond campus. Some courses may be taught in the evenings and there are opportunities to teach some of these courses in a distance learning format. Other duties will include (but not limited to) directing senior design projects, committee work, and other activities assigned by the Department Chair.

Department Profile


The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science offers BS and MS degrees in Computer Science and in Mathematics. Beginning in Fall 2019, the department will also offer a major in Applied Statistics under the BS in Mathematics. Four minors are offered: Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics which attract students from many fields. The Computer Science and Statistics faculties are currently developing interdisciplinary courses for both majors and minors.

Education and Experience

A Ph.D. in Computer Science or an ABD in Computer Science is REQUIRED. Although not required, candidates with prior experience in teaching computer science are encouraged to apply.
